Beginner Drum Lesson Courses

Designed for kids aged 5 - 12

Introduction

My beginner drum lesson courses nurtures the students’ confidence and ability to play drums with a pathway to learning their favourite songs.

The trial lesson introduces students to the drum set with a focus on basic technique and musical expression. The course then guides students through the process of building the coordination, technical, and musical ability to play along to a fun and engaging backing track.

Resources

Students will be provided with resources, such as sheet music, video demonstrations and personalised video recaps to supplement each lesson. Post lesson activities will be based on playing the instrument and applying the content learnt in lessons in musical ways to make practise fun and enjoyable. Personal musical discoveries will also be recorded along the way to reveal the student’s progress.

Outcome:

By the end of the beginner drumming course, students will be able to play along to a backing track of a grade 1 pop or rock song at a level that demonstrates their own unique progress and growth. The student will have a stronger ability to coordinate between their limbs to play both quarter and eighth note beats; the two most common in contemporary music. The student will further be able to play basic drum fills and incorporate the crash to their beat.

Philosophy:

All students learn at different paces. My teaching style is hands-on and highly personalised for everyone. My overarching goal as a teacher is to help the student realise their musical potential through the enjoyment of playing the drum set. Through developing a passion for drumming, the student will be better equipped to steer their own musical journey.
